Nick Boddington Season 1 Episode 161

In this episode of Let’s Run Facebook Ads, Nick Boddington explores the evolving role of AI within Meta’s Ads Manager. Prompted by a conversation with a long-time client, Nick breaks down how Meta’s AI tools - like automated ad copy generation - are already influencing campaign strategies and what this means for advertisers. He also reflects on Mark Zuckerberg’s vision of a future where businesses simply describe their goals, and AI handles the rest. Should media buyers be worried? Hello and welcome back to the podcast Let's run Facebook Ads podcast with myself, Nick Boddington. I was I don't know if I need to introduce myself if all for new people listening. I'm Nick olives and your host. So I've just come off a call. This podcast is going to be talking about AI Inside Matter. And whether we need to be worried about. Because I've just had a call with quite a major brand that we did, we've dealt with, have been for us for years and years and years are in the car rental business. And, hire a care by an hour business. You can probably guess who those sort of companies are in the UK. And they've basically said houses are going to affect us. And I said, well, what do you mean how they are going to affect you? Because there's, there's two ways that I'm already using and have been for a long time, the AI that is in Ads manager and that is the text. So I don't solely rely on the primary text or headlines being written by the AI. AI you actually have to put some of your own text in really to get it. To give you some good examples. So if you get your primary text box, you get your copy of you on the right and you put it in from strong text box when you when you're building your eyes, it will then give you some more options. And and you can take box those options now. I get some really good results out of them. I wouldn't say I automatically allow it to take box every single one. I wouldn't select all, but I definitely would pick 1 or 2 of them out. About to go along with your own primary text examples and see what results you get. That's not what exactly what my client was talking about. My client was talking about the fact, Mark Zuckerberg, I think we've got, one of our recent podcasts was on that. Yeah, we spoke about on the site, not not yet. Yeah. So that was a good. Do we use that one? Was that one of my podcast? Maybe. I'm not sure. Hundred percent. But anyway, we were talking about how massive Zuckerberg sat on stage with, a big tech, channel and said how he foresees a future being that I, you will just basically say to matter, this is what I want to happen. This is what my product is. This is what my product does, what my service, and it will do the rest of it and just generate new leads or sales. Now, if we were to go into what we see right now, as I've just explained, the text side of that, I think so, right? Okay. If you're using ChatGPT to help write your copy, etc., essentially the same thing. I wouldn't solely rely on this. I think recall having copywriting skills or practicing your copywriting skills is definitely something you need to be good at. Practice. Because you will be there all day long trying to get it to write you really good stuff, but it's a perfect holding hand. Or is it perfect? Rather than having us starting with a blank sheet of paper, you could say, Hey, while I've got you, I just wanted to ask. Would you like me to go into your ads manager and actually see what's working? Because I bet your ads aren't broken and I bet we can fix something. There's a reason our top clients stop guessing and start scaling. So if you've got campaigns that are burning cash, or you're having trouble barely even breaking even on them, let's have a look and let's see what we can fix. 100% no fluff, no sales pitch, just a pro-level ad review. So book your 30 minute free Facebook ad review session and walk away with some instant wins. Go to the Ads Clinic icon and book your call today. Do it now before you forget, but make sure you come back to listen to the rest of the podcast. Enjoy! the creative side. So when I'm in my article for school, for the Arts, tech, whatever, I'm trying to promote that I do have now in the new ad create. So you can you can upload image and then you have one of them is the create AI creative. And it's awful. It's really bad. Like it's really bad. And I just said to my client, now I understand from your selling trainers you're selling shampoo, you're selling product based e-com, you've got a Shopify store, your gym shot, whatever. In that scenario, I think you could get really quite good. And I haven't actually tested it because my ecom class don't actually have the facility for it to do it yet, but when it does, I might try it out and see what it comes with. But for my clients, what if your service or your car rental or whatever it might be, it's really bad. Like mine were awful. I sort of took it, took me dresses. My doctor, which we were doing at the time and with the backgrounds and everything, which is horrible. Yeah. You said you did like flowers or something. You for that. And the thing, the thing that makes it even worse. And I'm not saying. Right, I'm not slagging off I, I am a complete believer that AI is fantastic. I love it, I invest in it, I'm involved in that. It's all going the right way. And it is like that new, that new Google video that we did our podcast about on the other channel. I'll show you my partner last night, some of the stuff on shows was like, that's that's not real. I'm like, that's not real. It's going to take TV movie. It's unbelievable. So I do think meta will crack it, but we're a long way off that. But I say we're on well, I think we're all from an app point, but I think we're done with it. I think we we could be reasonably near if you're selling products as e-com, and I think it could be fantastic, but as far as I know at the moment, like a big brands like my client, they've got so much red tape, the sign off process even for our on what we're battling with alignment. And like a lot of my clients in the clinic and in school is the fact that there's a lot of free range when they do. With a small business, you've got free rein to try different things out. Essentially, the clients will save money, whether it's a service was leaves or is it whether it's, shopping, just making money. And as long as it's kind of along the right lines, I'm good. The when you get to the store, big stuff, it can take us four weeks, five weeks to get something signed off. Now, we're also in this world of hope, which helps all of us with this AI product, is that we need more and more creative going into our UX manager. So you can't just do 1 or 2 creatives now and hope for the best. You need to keep. If you're looking to up your spending up your sleeves and up your, shopping cart, you need to put lots of different creative interests. Transmedia, and that's hard to do. I mean, if I, if I look at I've done for you clients, we have a call for now to go over what's working. And then we have another half hour and a half now call every week just going over what's worked as a creative team. All four of us, what's worked, creative wise, how can we do more iterations of that? And then it goes back to two people client side sides as well, who then create more videos or more static still. Then go back in next week and that particular part that's in my head the moment we put it, testing seven different crazes every single week for small business, that's really hard to be on top of and, you know, speaking to you now, you guys do small businesses. It's hard to keep on top of that. So the AI is exciting because it will help. Am I worried as business? No, not really, because, we're always still be able to help with that. Creative people are always still going to go, What the hell is this? How do I get my way around it? How do I set up these things so I'm not worried. I think people are out of the world. People who are worried it's going to lose their jobs. We as an agency and as a platform and a consultancy, we use AI to help. So my AI helps me deliver good rates to my clients for all sorts of different things because we can utilize creative, we'll utilize AI on the background. Yeah, it's more like it's more like helping you rather than replacing what you're doing. It's just in addition to, as I think the people who are losing are the ones who aren't even using AI. Tell them, and I'd probably save two days a week of my time to help push everything else forward, because I'm not having to do the stuff that I can help with now. Yeah. So yeah, so it's round of this podcast. Don't be afraid of it. Actually, if you're able to go into apps manager and test it out, just start testing it because it is it is going to evolve everything with matter evolves and matches a fantastic platform. I'm just laughing at it at this stage with the AI, and I think where the comical side of it coming from is you've got a CEO talking to the world, going, this is the future, and people like me who are really going, that's not the thing. But I could change in three months. Yeah, yeah. So start utilizing it, start practicing with that. And like with all these things, especially now as manager because you guys the biggest thing is you guys getting lost. And that's not here. That's why I miss my calls. School is about helping you through it is get used to that bit because then then you'll be good at that bit. So when it is good, you'll know how it works, rather than coming on later and then having to figure out, I hope you enjoyed this one. I helped and in the next one, bye bye.
