In this episode, Nick shares the results of a real-world Facebook Ads experiment comparing landing pages and Meta lead forms. He breaks down how adding qualifying questions and conditional logic dramatically reduced the number of unqualified leads while increasing the quality of booked calls. Nick explains why paying more for a lead can actually be more profitable, how to identify whether your leads are worth pursuing, and why advertisers should focus on lead quality rather than simply chasing a low cost per lead.

Hello and welcome back to Let's Run Facebook as a podcast myself, Nick Boddington. I did a little experiment and I did it a because we always want new clients, but B because I wanted to see if what I teach is right. So I did an experiment on lead forms, qualifying them unqualified them and using lead center to put my money, put my mouth on. My money is yes, money is my money where my mouth is. Got it wrong. So here we go. Right? So I discovered that shooters are a great sector for us to advertise to. We have a number of clients that are tutors on our mentoring package and they get really, really good results. In fact, 100%. We have not failed with a client who does tutoring. And what I mean by tutoring, they're teaching English, maths, acts, etc. the parents are obviously the person who pays for the student to take the course and they're brilliant. So I thought, why not run some ads to win some other tutors to become client on a mentor mentoring packages, and let's use lead ads to get them. So I'm going to start right from the Hey, while I've got you, I just wanted to ask. Would you like me to go into your ads manager and actually see what's working? Because I bet your ads aren't broken and I bet we can fix something. There's a reason our top clients stop guessing and start scaling. So if you've got campaigns that are burning cash, or you're having trouble barely even breaking even on them, let's have a look and let's see what we can fix. 100% no fluff, no sales pitch, just a pro-level ad review. So book your 30 minute free Facebook ad review session and walk away with some instant wins. Go to the Ads Clinic icon and book your call today. Do it now before you forget, but make sure you come back to listen to the rest of the podcast. Enjoy! I started by using a landing page, and it was a landing page that has been tried and tested. When I set this business up, it was the landing page that we used to get leads for ad review calls. So I know the structure works right. We ran for three days, four days in fact, and didn't get one lead. Right. So the structure was they go to a landing page, they see a VSL of me, there's a button underneath it. They clicked a book, a call where people booking, booking the call, sorry, clicking the link, but they weren't booking a call. So we had lots of link clicks. In fact, we had a few hundred non booked it and it was just like okay, that's not good at all. So let's move into plan B, let's go to lead forms and see how these do. So it adds exactly the same. Made a lead form. We had some qualifying questions on it but we didn't use any, didn't use any conditional logic to not people out and ran it. And my results were this. We'd spent about 700 pounds and I have had, all in all, 91 to 93. 110, 111, 100. I'm just going home looking at the tent now. Should prep this, shouldn't I? Under 11, 130, 638 leads and converted. We have had five which is great. So it's paid. It's paid for the campaign which is brilliant and made profit. We've had call booked with 20 of them 21 one was spam 17 after we've spoken to them, are unqualified and I've put two in qualified. But I've kind of changed the way I was doing this. So two have gone into qualified, but they've been moved into call books. So that's even more qualified 91 of these. Now, bear in mind I'm going to update this tonight, but I would I'm happy to go 9191 of these we haven't managed to get hold of, which is abysmal and I'm not happy about that. So even though I'm happy with closing the five because we're up, we've probably got a 6 to 7 row on that. Brilliant. But those 90 ones concerning, that's a waste of time. Now I'm in a position that I'm not having to call those, which makes it easier when you're running a business that's profitable, that you can go a few of those days that week that's been on and you're not I'm not getting my backup. Right, because it's the money. It's not even wasted spend. It's just a load of leads that we can't get hold of. But if I was the person calling those and it was my business, like a lot of you listening to this, that would be concerning and very, very annoying and agitating. Right. So I then on Friday, when I'm going to go, I'm not even going to go in between now, I'm going to go full on, let's go into really, really qualify them. So a couple of questions I'd asked was a lot. I'd ask the question of what what revenue do you currently get through your tutoring business? And I started with 0 to 1000 or 1000 under and then it went up from there. Most of the leads, especially the ones that we didn't get hold of, were up to 1000 already, revenue coming in from that business. So there might be teachers, might be a side hustle, etc.. Absolutely fine. But the ones that we did qualify and we booked into clients were all above that. So first thing, let's make a conditional conditional logic question, which is the first one is how much are you making from your clients? And anyone who answers up to 1000 they get sent to the end page. Sorry we can't. Our services are too expensive. We can't help you on this occasion. That was one. And I thought, oh, let's go even harder on this. Let's even do a qualifying, amount of money to spend. So my I wanted to say something on the lines of we are a paid service along with ad spend. Are you in a position that if we can get you new students and it is profitable and we have a very good track record, are you willing to invest in yourself and your business to grow your tutoring business? Yes or no? And that was again, if they clicked no, I don't get the lead. So there's two things happening here. By those two questions being answered correctly. The only people coming through are qualified leads. Now of those since Friday we're now on Monday I had six. My lead cost went up from 5 pounds ish to about 13. So I've more than doubled my lead cost. I've had a lot less leads, but we have spoken to four and booked for, so that conversion rate is huge considering if I'm looking at call booked, I've got 15 from spending nearly a grand and having 91 people that we haven't even spoken to and closing five, I'm completely happy to take six. With a booking rate of four for 13 pounds a lead, and I'm sure you guys would too. So in a way, and I think this is basically coming from a position of wanting to be in control and actually really understand what's going on. I wanted to go, worst case scenario, we have some questions. I wasn't just asking first name, you know, full name, email address, telephone number. I was asking some, you know, some good qualifying questions. But people are answering the question then just not turning up. Right. We want to get rid of those. Let's make it harder and get people to actually want to do something. Book the call right, or at least come through so we can call them to them. Book the call. It worked. I'm really happy with the results on that. Now I'm going to give this another week, and if I find that it's too hard and I can do with more leads because I quite good, then I might, I might take out one of those questions, or I might even add another and make it even harder. The end of the day, we want to get on calls with people who are qualified and are looking to do business with us, and if we have to pay a little bit more for a lead, absolutely fine. At the end of the day, if someone comes on for one of our packages that we are at 700 a month, over 700 a month for, and it's costing me 13 to 30 to 50 pounds and I'm getting calls book with them with a good conversion rate. I'm paying for that lead. Okay. So there's my my note on this. Give it a go. Have a look at your leads. Are you qualifying people enough. Could you pay more for the lead. Could you put conditional logic questions in there. Have a go and let me know how it goes, gets on and at the same time, if you need more advice like this, remember to join our ad clinic in school. So go to school. The clinic. See you there by. Thank you for joining us again today. please feel free to drop us a message. We'd love to hear from you and any questions that you would like answered.
